Privacy policy.

How Pocket Marketing collects, uses and looks after your information. Written in plain English, because a privacy policy nobody can read is no use to anyone.

Who we are

Pocket Marketing is a marketing agency based in Bradford, West Yorkshire. We build websites and run marketing for small local businesses.

For the purposes of UK data protection law we are the data controller for the information described on this page.

What we collect

When you fill in a form on this site we collect your name, business name, email address, phone number and whatever you write in the message box.

If you set up a customer account we collect your first and last name, company name, email address, phone number and the password you choose. Your password is stored scrambled, so nobody at Pocket Marketing can see it. We also record when you agreed to us keeping your details.

If you email or call us we keep a record of that conversation.

Like most websites we also collect basic technical information automatically, such as your IP address, browser and which pages you looked at. This is used to keep the site working and to understand how people use it.

Why we collect it

We use your details to reply to your enquiry, to give you a quote and to provide services if you become a client.

If you have a customer account, we use your details to check you are one of our customers, to run your account and to contact you about the work we are doing for you.

Our lawful basis is legitimate interest when you contact us about our services, and contract when we are working for you or running your account. If we ever add you to a marketing list we will ask for your consent first, and you can withdraw it at any time.

Our mailing list. Our forms have a box you can tick to join our mailing list. It is never ticked for you. If you tick it, we will send you the occasional email with simple marketing tips and offers. We only do this because you have said yes. Every email has an unsubscribe link, or you can email us and we will take you off straight away. Saying no, or unsubscribing later, makes no difference to your enquiry or any work we do for you.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information to anyone.

We share it only with the suppliers who help us run the business. Hostinger hosts this website. Google provides our email and the Google Sheets where we keep a list of enquiries and customer accounts. We also use analytics tools to see how the site is used, and Google reCAPTCHA on our contact forms to stop spam. These suppliers can only use your information to provide their service to us.

Some of these suppliers may store information outside the UK. Where they do, they use the safeguards UK law requires.

We will also share information if the law requires it.

If you join our mailing list, your name, business name and email address are kept in Mailchimp, which we use to send our emails.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become work are deleted after two years.

Customer accounts stay open while you are a customer. If you ask us to close your account, or you stop working with us, we delete the account within three months.

Client records are kept for seven years after the work ends, because tax law requires it.

If you join our mailing list, we keep your details until you unsubscribe. We also keep a record of when and where you said yes, and the wording you agreed to, so we can show we had your permission.

Cookies

This site uses cookies to make it work properly and to measure how it is used. You can accept or decline non-essential cookies when you first arrive, and you can change your mind later in your browser settings.

If you log in to your customer account, we set a cookie that keeps you logged in. The account area cannot work without it. It is removed when you log out, or after 90 days if you ticked “Keep me logged in”.

Our contact forms use Google reCAPTCHA, the “I’m not a robot” tick box. It sets cookies to check you are a real person and not a spam bot, and the forms cannot be sent without it. Google’s own privacy policy covers what it collects.

Declining non-essential cookies will not stop you using the site.

Your rights

You have the right to ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted and to object to us using it.

If you have a customer account, you can check and change your details yourself on your Account page at any time.

For anything else, ask us and we will action it within one month. There is no charge.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first and we will try to put it right.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information we will update this page and change the date below.
